Hello and welcome to my site, Paul Madden Photography. As I'm sure is obvious, my name is Paul and I live in Liverpool. Living in Liverpool, I am lucky to have not only an abundance of beautiful architecture to photograph, but I am also a stones throw away from Crosby beach, home of the Antony Gormley Iron Men statues, otherwise known as 'Another Place'.
My interest in photography started gradually about 10 years ago when I bought my first digital camera, with a staggering 1 megapixel resolution! At the time, I was simply using it to capture moments and take holiday snaps, and never bothered with post-processing. Since then, and around 3 years ago, I bought myself a 12 megapixel Fujifilm FinePix S1850. The S1850 is what is called a bridge camera, which basically means it is in between a point and shoot camera and a DSLR camera. Initially, I got a lot out of the camera, but soon found it had it's limitations, such as a small aperture range, exposure time, and no manual focus.
This then convinced me to upgrade, to which I did with a Canon EOS 600D. The difference was unbelievable, and my interest soon became a healthy obsession. Since buying the camera, and teaching myself how to use it, I have sold a large number of my images from items as small as stickers to large canvas wall art, as well as calendars, posters, greeting cards and photographic prints. As well as selling images as the previously mentioned items, I have also done commisioned work for companies, including graphics and images for corporate documentation, designs for magazine adverts, website banners and images, and business cards, as seen on my Corporate Images page.
I am lucky in that I enjoy both taking photographs, and post processing and graphic design. As I mentioned above, I am self taught (with the aid of the internet and a couple of digital photography books, and a lot of trial and error!) and I will regularly go back to a scene or location to attempt to get a better shot. In the near future, I will be posting some of my techniques on here, as well as a summary of the equipment I use, which, perhaps surprisingly to some of you reading this, proves you can do photography on a budget.
I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy capturing it. For any queries, quotes or requests, please feel free to contact me on the methods stated on the 'Contact Me' page, and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible.
